Summer Cloth Diaper Hop

I have decided to go on a mission to try just about every cloth diaper out there. And not for any other reason but I love the experience. Seeing that my mail has come. opening the mailbox to see a package that I know is fluff, getting to prep my new fluff and then out using it, and doing extra laundry, just so I can get it back on the baby. Yes, new fluff is wonderful!

So as most of you know I run the store Green Baby Goods and put out a question of what my fan's favorite diapers were and one of them had mentioned Groovycheeks. Now until that day I had never heard of them, and I have heard of a lot, so I started looking into them. Groovycheeks offers 2 different types of diapers, both are pockets, but one is has a microfiber insert with a microfleece inner, and the other is their bamboo diaper with 100% bamboo fleece inner. So I contacted them about carrying them in my store, and got in a stock of their bamboo diapers. They asked if I would like to have one to review, and I said ABSOLUTELY! So, in came my fluffy mail!

Here is what sets this diaper apart from the others. The first thing is the inside of the diaper. It is charcoal in color. So, when baby poo's, there is no staining (why aren't more companies doing this?!?!). The second is how trim the insert is and that it is made up of 70% bamboo 30% cotton.

The outside is made of a very soft material, not PUL, as the PUL is hidden, so it feels more like a pair of shorts, rather than I diaper which was also very appealing!

I added a few in motion shots so that you can really see how trim this diaper really is!

No stains will show
All natural insert
Natural fibers touch baby
One sized

Only comes with one insert. I have a SUPER heavy wetter since he drinks non-stop, so he only lasted about an hour in it

Have you tried THIS planner?

So I know that in the age of technology, many of us have stopped using most forms of paper. We used to write notes, now we send texts, we used to mail cards, now we post "Happy Birthday" to a friends Facebook page. Technology takes less effort, and requires less thought. However, it also takes away the interaction and the need to communicate face to face.

Recently I was given the opportunity to review a planner by a company called dotmine, who uses those right? But it isn't really like the trapper keeper style, it more less is simple like a notebook. I have seen moms that carry around a notebook trying to keep track of parties, soccer games, dance lesson, etc, and really it's the same kind of thing, just much more organized.

It really looks more like a notebook!

So here is how we decided to do it. If one of us knows of something that is coming up, dinner with a boss from work, sleep over at a friends, soccer game, you name it, each member writes it in the book. My nine year old doesn't yet have a cell phone (and as far as I am concerned won't until he can pay for it himself), but hubby and I do. So all of the events that we have planned out, for as long out as we know go into the planner, and then hubby and I can add each others to the calender on our phone. This way there is communication between us, and our oldest too.

It also comes with these cute stickers to make something stand out, such as a holiday, dentist appointment, and even stickers to remind you of your self breast exam (promoting women's health is awesome!).

This planner retails for $18.99 and includes:

  • 17 months: school & calendar
  • Monthly, weekly and seasonal views
  • Inside back pocket
  • Tear out margins
  • Weekly quotes
  • Stickers for events

It really is a great and easy way to keep the family "in the know" and able to plan accordingly. There is no longer a reason to have an excuse on whether or not they were told about something, as long as you can remember to write it down!

Please show dotmine some love!

I received this product through Karma Media in exchange for my honest review.

Karma Media has teamed up with Dot.Mine Planners to give 20 readers a planner each. Winners will be given a choice as to which planner they would like from Dot.Mine, day planners that help you find your scheduling bliss!

Trying to conceive? Or maybe not? Here is an all natural, accurate way to do it!

After I had my oldest son (who is now 9 1/2) a rather new birth control pill was all over the TV. It advertised periods only 4 times a year, which were typically also lighter and shorter. Say what? Sign me up! Seasonale was great for me. Having only a period every three months, and it really was lighter and shorter, even sometimes only lasting 48 hours. I LOVED this pill. I talked about it in every conversation I get into about birth control pills. It was perfect for me.

After hubby and I got married, we decided to start trying to have a baby. While I was pregnant with my youngest I knew that I would be nursing, and rather than taking a low dose birth control, I decided to get the IUD. A lot of the women (friends & family) loved the IUD. Many of them didn't have a period at all. I thought "perfect!" and discussed it with my doctor. I had it placed at my 6 week appointment after my son was born.

Oh I hated the IUD! Not only did it hurt a ton going in, but I spotted. And not just a little here and there. Almost constantly for MONTHS. I was so miserable. I kept holding out though, trying it give it another chance. But still spotting. So after 10 months of it, I finally called my OB/GYN and told her how miserable I was and asked that she switch me to something else. I tried going back to Seasonale, I mean, it worked so well for me in the past. Still spotting. So she tried a higher dose pill, still spotting. After one last try and another pill I went back in to see her. She gave me some hugs and suggested that I just go off birth control pills altogether and let my body adjust for at least 6 months, and then we can try again. I thought, OK it's 6 months I can do this.

So I started on a search for something else. Condoms are OK. And they work, but are kind of a pain and a mood killer. I thought of a diaphragm, same thing though really. So I started googling charts. I figured if I could just chart my ovulations, I would know when to avoid "the deed" and therefore, avoid a pregnancy.

Well during my ovulation chart search I came across a website that you can track your fertility for FREE. You just sign in and input your chart. Things like cycle length, temperature (which helps in calculating ovulating), periods, etc. The site is called OvaGraph. It costs nothing at all and all of the work is done for you. The site is really great for women trying to conceive. There are chat groups, Q&A, and TONS of information on charting and reading charts.

Here is something else though. If you have been trying to conceive for some time, they have a product called OvaCue. This handy little device will track when you are ovulating for you! It really takes out all of the guess work. You just wake up each morning and put this little device on your tongue and it will tell you up to 7 days before you ovulate. Mine is avergaing about 5 days before. But nonetheless, the guessing is gone. Now with that being said, I also have the Vaginal Sensor. This is not needed for everyone. However my periods are between 29 days and 36 days. They are now all over the place, and I have been off birth control for five months. My body just has no normal anymore. Which is OK, but this really helps me determine the exact day of ovulation since the middle of my cycle changes every month. I am in love with this device. When I got it, I was already into my second week of cycle, and had to wait for the next one. I never wanted my period to come so bad before! I love that it only takes a second and it is so user friendly!

Here is what each device looks like.

Vaginal Sensor:

And here is what my chart looked like last month:

So from my chart you can see that I ovulated on the 17th. But I knew on the 10th when that day was coming so I knew when to plan how not to get pregnant. I cannot say enough good things about this product. OvaCue has also written up a post to compare the differences between the different fertility monitors here. Not having to pee on a strip is a good enough perk, and that device costs the same, but doesn't tell you in advance when you will be ovulating. It is kind of nice to know in advance, and is certainly a great benefit if you were trying to conceive and you knew your hubby was going to be out of town for any length of time.

So here is where to find all of the information about this super wonderful product:

itti bitti are well known for changing the way you think about cloth diapers and have done it again with the brilliant new bitti tutto!
After being bombarded with requests for an itti bitti one size / birth to potty diaper, we’ve spent over a year developing the best fitting one size diaper you can get – in our humble opinion of course ;)

bitti tutto cloth diaper sizes

a diaper that grows with your child? wise choice

one size fits most from tiny newborn to small child

We’ve eliminated the bulk associated with a lot of one size options and this cleverly designed diaper, fits neat and slim from birth (8lb) right through to a 44lb child!

But we didn’t just design the best fitting one size diaper, we have solved the most common issue – the dreaded ‘pooplosion’.

The bitti tutto has a complete internal gusset, protecting the sides and back – it’s our patented ‘poo fence’ which means you don’t need to worry about leaks and can use this diaper with confidence!

Hip snaps help give a perfect fit at each size, for slim and cuddly babies, without bulk or wing droop.

tutto soakerEach diaper comes with three soaker pads, so you can customise the absorbency to suit your baby. PLUS bitti tutto is brilliantly economical, as you can buy extra soaker pads separately (in the original super absorbent bamboo, or quick dry microfibre) and re-use the outer shell!
